Robert B. DownesSENIOR PARTNER

Robert B. Downes graduated from Boston College Law School in 1969. He was admitted to practice law in Massachusetts and practiced there for approximately two years before moving to Alaska to work as an Assistant District Attorney in Fairbanks. Four years later, Robert entered private practice with Jay Hodges. When Mr. Hodges was appointed as a Superior Court Judge, Robert joined Richard Cole at the Law Firm of Cole & Downes which focused on civil and criminal litigation. Robert later formed a new law office with Dennis McKelvie. That firm eventually evolved into the Law Offices of Downes, MacDonald & Levengood. He is a member of the Alaska Bar Association.

Amy J. Tallerico graduated from Boston College with a B.A. in Political Science. She earned her Juris Doctor (Cum Laude) from Thomas M. Cooley Law School, with a concentration in Litigation. Amy was an intern for the Fairbanks District Attorney’s Office and the former Law Office of Downes, MacDonald, & Levengood. Upon graduation from law school, Amy worked as a law clerk for the Honorable David C. Stewart of the Alaska Court of Appeals where she worked on a variety of criminal law issues. After her clerkship, Amy worked as an Associate at the law firm of Zimmerman & Wallace where she gained extensive experience in different areas of civil law. She is a member of the Alaska Bar Association.

Kirk F. Schwalm graduated from University of Alaska Fairbanks with a Bachelor of Business Administration (Cum Laude) in 2002. He earned his Juris Doctor (Magna Cum Laude) from Lewis and Clark Law School in 2010. Prior to law school, Kirk co-owned and operated Down Under Guns in Fairbanks. During law school he clerked for the U.S. Attorney’s office both in Fairbanks and Portland and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Anchorage. Upon graduating from law school he clerked for both the Honorable Michael P. McConahy of the Alaska Superior Court and the Honorable Justice Daniel E. Winfree of the Alaska Supreme Court. After clerking, Kirk served as a District Court Magistrate and then worked as an Assistant Attorney General assigned to the Alaska Department of Fish & Game. Kirk is admitted to practice in Alaska and the United States District Court. He is a member of the Alaska Bar Association.
